Greater Commission Ministries was born out of the belief that God has called ALL Christians to obey “The Great Commission” and to use their gifts to build up the body of Christ.
In the summer of 2006, Pastor Smiley was granted permission to begin the process for starting a new Church of Christ Holiness (USA) ministry in the Chesapeake/Portsmouth/Suffolk area. A proposal for Greater Commission Ministries was submitted by Pastor Smiley at the Eastern Diocese Planning meeting in November of 2006.
Since that time, Pastor Smiley along with his wife Sister Tina Smiley and the officers of Greater Commission Ministries have worked tirelessly to bring the ministry to life. We are planning our first family bible study to be held weekly starting June 8th 2007.
What’s in store for the future? We are planning monthly ministries for both men and women. Also, we plan on having our first worship service on Palm Sunday in the spring of 2008.
