Our Pastor

Pastor SmileyPastor Kent D. Smiley was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 14, 1963.

Pastor Smiley accepted the Lord on Easter Sunday 1979 at New Hope Progressive Church of Christ Holiness (USA) under the ministry of Elder Samuel McGhee Jr. While at New Hope, Pastor Smiley served as a Deacon and Superintendent of Sunday school. He accepted the call to the Gospel ministry and delivered his trial sermon on Sunday, January 1, 1984 at the age of 20.

Pastor Smiley joined the United States Navy on April 17, 1986 and after completing training was assigned to Norfolk, Va. He joined First Church of Christ Holiness (USA) in August 0f 1987 and was licensed to preach under the late Bishop Eugene Brown in December 1988. Pastor Smiley was ordained at the Eastern Diocese Convention in 1998 under Bishop Lindsay E. Jones. During this period, Pastor Smiley served at First Church of Christ Holiness (USA) as a Youth Minister, Sunday school teacher, and Associate Pastor of Outreach and Evangelism.

On January 1, 2003 Pastor Smiley was appointed to serve as interim pastor of First Church of Christ Holiness (USA) until a permanent pastor could be assigned. He served in this capacity until December 12, 2003.

Currently, Pastor Smiley is on active duty in the United States Navy as an Afloat Trainer and holds the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He is a member of Emmanuel Chapel Church and serves as an associate pastor and outreach department head.

Pastor Smiley is the founder of Greater Commission Ministries.
